Description:
Located only 27 miles south of San Jose and 65 miles south of San Francisco, U.C. Santa Cruz is a magnificent setting for camp, as the campus rests in a 2,000-acre redwood forest overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Training takes place each day in the 50-meter x 25-yard world-class outdoor facility, with overnight accommodations and cafeteria style meals being offered just up the hill from the pool.
Randy Whitchurch, the new head water polo coach at the Santa Catalina School, returns as lead instructor. A longtime Nike Camp director, Randy was the head water polo coach at UC Santa Cruz from 2000-2007. Prior to that, Whitchurch was the Head Coach at Foothill College, Sacred Heart High School, and Castilleja High School, where he led his team to the first of three CIF CCS section championship games. Whitchurch is a graduate of Stanford, where he played water polo and was an All-American swimmer.
Camp Director is Kim Musch, UCSC’s Aquatic Director and Head Swim Coach. Coach Musch has been involved with coaching for over 25 years and brings a wealth of water polo knowledge to this camp.
